SBI Cheque Book Request Through SMS:
Now SBI customers can request Cheque Book through SMS.
Please do remember that, for this mode of applying cheque book will work only when your mobile number is registered with bank account.
If your mobile number registered with bank account, just send the following SMS from your registered mobile number.
Step 1: Register your account for Quick Banking SMS based facility.
Send below SMS from your registered number to ‘09223488888’
SMS Format: “REG<<space>>11 Digit Account Number”
Ex: REG 348599XXXXX
You will receive a registration success message after sometime. Now, you can request Cheque Book by sending following SMS.
Step 2: To request new Cheque Book just send the following SMS to ‘09223588888’
SMS Format: CHQREQ
Just send that text without adding anything to it.
After sending this message, You will receive a reply message like below with confirmation code from SBI.
Your request successfully accepted and pending for processing. Reference No.345678. It will be delivered on your registered address of the bank. Kindly send the following SMS for confirmation: CHQACC Y 728663 to 09223588888.
The confirmation code in this message is ‘CHQACC Y 728663‘
Just send this code to 09223588888
You have successfully placed SBI Cheque Book Request through SMS. It will be delivered at your registered address.
SBI Online Cheque Book Request using SBI Net Banking:
You can apply for sbi cheque book online using sbi net banking portal. I will explain it in step by step manner.
Step 1: Login to SBI Netbanking portal using sbi net banking username and password. After login, click on ‘Request & Enquiries’ tab.
Step 2: On this page you can find “Cheque Book Request” option, click on it. See below screenshot for reference.
Step 3: On next page,
- Select the Account number for which you need cheque book. You can avail cheque book facility for Savings account, Current account, Cash Credit and Over Draft accounts.
- Maximum Threshold Limit for each cheque will be populated automatically without having any option to change. Usually you can issue cheque upto a value of Rs.10 lakhs.
- Select number of cheque books. Number of books that you can request depends on account type you can select.
- Select number of cheque leaves that you require per book from down menu. You can opt for 10 leaves minimum and 50 leaves maximum.

- Bearer Cheque: A person holding the cheque can collect the amount if it is a bearer cheque.
- Order Cheque: The payee (i.e. the person in whose favour the cheque is issued) only or his authorized person only can collect the amount of the cheque if it is an order cheque.
- Finally, Click on Submit.
Step 4: On the next page, it will display all the options that you selected in previous page and provide an option to select your delivery address. There are 3 options for you. Registered Address, Last Available Dispatched Address and New Address. You can select any of the options that you desire. Now click on submit.
This is how you can request for sbi cheque book using sbi net banking portal.
Multicity Cheques will be issued on your request on this portal. If you desire to have a normal cheque book, kindly contact your home branch for the purpose.
Apply for SBI Cheque Book using SBI Anywhere Personal App:
You can apply for sbi cheque book using SBI Anywhere Personal – Mobile Banking Application of SBI available for Android, iOS phones. Just install the app on your registered mobile number. You can access app with mobile banking or Internet Banking/ Net banking login info.
Now lets request for new sbi check book using SBI anywhere mobile banking app.
1: Login to SBI Anywhere app.
2: After login, tap on Requests tab as you can see below image.
Step 3: In the next screen tap on Cheque Book option and then select Cheque Book Request option.
Step 4: As a final step, select your Account number, enter the number of Cheque books, and the number of Cheque leaves and submit your request. This is how SBI Cheque book request is done on sbi anywhere mobile banking app.

SBI Cheque Book Request by Calling Customer Care Center:
The last option available for sbi cheque book request is to Call customer care from your registered mobile number. You need to provide your Account details and confirm your personal details. For verification of your authenticity, you need to enter ATM card details.

SBI Cheque Book Charges:
Charges @ ₹3 per cheque leaf for all Savings Bank accounts having Quarterly Average Balance (QAB) as on previous quarter end below ₹25,000.
Charges @ ₹2 per cheque leaf for accounts having QAB 25000 and above as on previous quarter end.
50 Leaves free per year for senior citizen/salary accounts and 20 leaves free per year for other P-Segment/AGL Segment customers.

2. Minimum Balance in SBI Savings Account with Cheque Book?
You have to maintain average monthly balance for cheque book issued accounts as well as no cheque book issued accounts. Average montlhy balance requirement is different for Metro & Urban branches, Semi-Urban and Rural Branches.
Metro & Urban Branch customers should maintain AMB of Rs.3000/-
Semi-Urban Branch customers should maintain AMB of Rs.2000/-
Rural Branch customers should maintain AMB of Rs.1000/-
3. How can I get SBI Cheque book immediately or on same day?
You can get cheque book immediately or on same day by visiting your home branch. But these cheque books are issued to only VIP/HNI customers only. If you are general customer dont expect to get it immediately over the counter. Once you request for cheque book at bank branch, you will receive it within 1 or 2 weeks.
It’s better to apply for fresh cheques online or at home branch well in advance so that you don’t fall short of having no cheques for disposal.
Cheque books will be dispatched within 3 working days from the date of request. Rest of the time will be taken by post office. Sometimes post office takes its own time to deliver cheque books where bank is not guilty.
