Step 1: Go to Epf Public Portal for Establishment Search
Step 2: On this page, enter any part of your organization/ establishment name.
If you looking for establishment details and you know your establishment code (7 digit number), you can enter the code in 2nd box. Enter any of one the details and captcha code, then click Search button.
You should know the difference between establishment code and establishment id. If your company Establishment ID / Est ID is ‘MHBAN1568537000’, establishment code will be ‘1568537’. It is a 7 digit number starts immediately after the initial 5 letter code.
Step 3: If you have entered part of establishment name, it will display the all organizations matching your search term under ‘List of Establishments’ section. Just click on View Details link to display all the details about the organization you are looking for.
If you have entered establishment code, it will display all the organizations from different states and regions that matches with that establishment code. In the list displayed, look for your organization and then click on view details for complete details.
Step 4: Under ‘Validity Status (As per Online Coverage) (View Payment Details)’ header, you can find
- Establishment Code
- Establishment Name
- Establishment Status
- Registration Status on ECR Portal

As i already told you, you can find the payments made by your organization every month. You can check whether the amount deducted from your salary by your organization was actually remitting it to EPFO or not. For this verification, click on ‘View Payment Details’ option under ‘Validity Status’ Heading. A popup window will open with all the payment details by your organization. You can download this information in excel format.
You can also find the name of employees for whom your organization has paid provident fund. For this purpose, click on number of employees number. It will display all the employee names as per ECR.
If you further go through the main page, under the header ‘Establishment Status (As per EPFO Master), you can find whether your organization comes under exempted establishment or unexempted from PF, Pension and EDLI. For my current organization, ‘PF: UNEXEMPTED, PENSION: UNEXEMPTED, EDLI: EXEMPTED’. It is not exempted from PF and Pension bu exempted from EDLI.

Ans: Pf Extension code is a 3 digit number which comes immediately after 7 digit establishment code in Establishment ID. This number denotes the branches of an organization. Lets say company A has 10 branches in India. In that case, establishment code will be same 7 digit number but extension code will be different. You can usually find it as 000. In case your company has more than one branch, epf will assign a number for each branch of your company.
2. How can I get an establishment code number from PF Number?
Ans: If you have PF Number, it is very easy to find establishment code. The 7 digits that comes after initial 5 letters is the establishment code.
3. How to get UAN number if I know the establishment code?
Ans: This not possible. Establishment code is useful to check the details of the firm and the deposits made by the firm for every employee. You can’t even retrieve the PF account number, you can just verify name and amount deposited.
